The one thing I can confidently boast about when it comes to comparing notes and sharing about God – The Father is His love. In a world where the spiritual things are actually more physical than the physical things, the way to not only survive, but to overcome and conquer is with and by God’s love.
There are so many dimensions to the love that our Father has for us… the beautiful yet enigmatic thing about it is that we will never ever be able to fully comprehend how deep His love for us runs, how high it reaches and how wide it stretches.
I always catch myself singing and reflecting on the bridge of a Bethel song called “You Don’t Miss A Thing“:
There’s no place I can go your love won’t find me
No place I can hide that you don’t see
There’s no place I can fall your love couldn’t catch me
You see it all, you see it all through the eyes of love
These words are so poignant!
David’s words in Psalm 139 mirror the words of the song. “If i go up to heaven, You are there. If go down to the grave, You are there….if I dwell by the farthest oceans…I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night but even in darkness I cannot hide from You.”
Once we get to the place where we can confidently make declarations as radical and as bold as the ones David made in Psalm 139, the enemy has little to work with when it comes to condemning us.
I used to think that I had to feel … I mean really feel some kind of tangible manifestation of God’s love for me to know that He loved me for real. When I was happy and content, I believed He loved me. When I was sad and downcast or had just done something wrong, God hated me and was completely ashamed of me. I believed what I felt. This mind-set was completely imparted by the enemy because feelings change every minute. You can’t trust what you feel! Faith being the evidence of things not seen is also evidence of things not felt, but of things that you are fully persuaded of no matter how you feel or how bleak things in front of you may look.
So take a moment to really think about it…nothing…NO-THING you do, or not do, or say or not say or feel or not feel, nothing in tomorrow, nothing in today, no person, angel or demon, or any creature, no dimension of time or space can ever keep you from the love of God which is in Jesus!
But surely it can’t be possible can it? Of course not! Not to our tiny, limited, clouded and clogged human minds. Therein lies the beauty and enigma again.
I no longer “um” and “ah” about whether or not the Father loves me for I am fully persuaded.
God bless you.
