I have had a song in my heart for as long as I can remember. I discovered that I was actually able to sing at a very young age. Growing up in the church provided me ample opportunities to showcase my talent. When I first joined to worship team at my church, it was admittedly somewhat under duress. An uncle in my church continuously prompted me to join the choir and would ask me every week if I had approached the choir leader. One day I just bit the bullet and began the process of becoming a member of the Worship Team.
Initially I stayed in the team with some reluctance. Not because I didn’t want to sing, but because I would rather have been hanging out with my friends than attending rehearsal and midweek services. However it was not until I began to know God for myself that I realised just how much God wanted to use me. My voice became more than just a tool of entertainment, but an instrument with which to praise God.
When I began to lead praise and worship, everything became more than just lyrics and music. It was an appreciation of the amazing God that we serve. It was an acknowledgement of my fallible nature, gratefulness for His enduring grace and mercy. It became an expression of my realisation of Who God is.
Being a contributor to this book has allowed me to share just a small snippet of that experience and I pray it blesses everyone who reads it.
God bless you.
