This coming Sunday, 26th of September, 2010, is what is known all over the world as Compassion Sunday – one in which churches help to promote the activities of Compassion International and raise more sponsors.
Compassion is an international Christian child development and child advocacy ministry. Partnering with local churches, they are committed to the spiritual, economic, social and physical development of children living in extreme poverty, enabling them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. The purpose of this day is to draw the attention of the Church to the needs of the world’s poorest children, and show how each of us can intervene in the life of at least one child in poverty through sponsorship.
